Gold Medals!

I am not a sports nut. Oh, I enjoy Nascar but for the rest, just not interested. Different story for my husband and son. I enjoyed watching their jubilation when Canada's Olympic Men's Hockey Team took the gold medal this afternoon.

Finally these guys have learned to play like girls!

The ladies have won gold in the last 2 Olympics!

I just have one question...

Why would anyone want to do this???

Spring Etsy Treasury-Just Wishing

I'm starting off the new week by having my handmade sterling silver peridot earrings included in another treasury on Etsy.

Curated by Simple Sundries. Please check out her shop, she has really cute handmade pendants.

The treasury is available for viewing until Monday evening. And please visit my Etsy store Gracie Jewellery.

I am so happy other Artisans think my jewellery is worthy of being included in their treasuries.

February's Last Pink Saturday

It's Pink Saturday which means it's the Weekend! Thanks to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for hosting Pink Saturday every week.

I was hit with a migraine for most of this week and didn't have a chance to take my "Pink" pictures. So I'd like to show some Pink things on my wishlist.

I love Fenton Glass, especially the Pink items.

One or three of these would be nice!

I have just the spot for this.

This would be perfect on a windowsill with the sun shining through it.

How pretty is this?

I won't settle for less then all of these!

Well look at this-a pink necklace in a pink shell

So this week's shout-out goes to Apron Senorita. Last week she had Guys who wear Pink. Oh my there were some cuties there! Go check it out for yourself.

Thanks for stopping by. Looking forward to visiting with you next week.

Pink Saturday -February 20

It's Pink Saturday and it is good to hear that Beverly at How Sweet the Sound is feeling better.

Last week we had some new Pink Ladies join us. You have to stop by One Crazy Cookie. With a name like that how could you not drop by?

It's tea time at Gracie's

Some ladies like their tea in crockery cups

Some ladies like their tea in china cups. I'll let you chose your cup

Maybe you would like your cup with a castle on it. You could pretend you are the queen

Or maybe you'd like a cup decorated with sweetpeas

Maybe some wildrose's

Or one that is blue with hidden flowers

My son will let you use his favourite

Now here is one that was made to celebrate Canada's 100th birthday-The Centennial Rose

Maybe you would like the one that is all pink with large roses

Sorry I'm using this one

What, you'd rather have a coffee cup? I have the perfect one for you

And while we are drinking tea and having fun we all get to wear

a pink quartz bracelet. You knew this was coming, didn't you?

I'm happy you stopped by today. I hope you'll come visit me next Pink Saturday.

Caring for your Sterling Silver Jewellery

The Latin word for silver is Ag - Argentum meaning 'white and shining'.

Sterling silver is made of 92.5% and 7.5% copper. Combine silver with gemstones and you have a beautiful piece of jewellery.

Care is needed to keep your sterling silver jewellery looking good. Silver reacts with sulfur or hydrogen sulfide in the air. This creates a dull build up, robbing silver jewellery of its natural sheen. Keeping your silver jewellery in a cool dry place will help it avoid tarnishing. If you don’t plan on wearing your silver jewellery for a period of time store it away from direct exposure to sunlight or artificial light. Keep each piece separate as storing silver jewellery among other pieces of jewellery cause them to rub against each other creating scratches. Do not expose silver jewellery to chlorinated water or bleach and do not apply hair colours or permanent solutions while wearing your jewellery. A diluted solution of mild dishwashing liquid and water using a soft toothbrush is a quick effective way to clean your silver jewellery. Rinse well under running water and dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth.

A Silver Jewellery polishing cloth is useful for a quick rub after daily wearing.

For homemade polishing cloths check out tipnut.com

Gracie Jewellery uses Argentium sterling silver wire. Argentium Sterling Silver is sterling silver with less of the copper alloy. Argentium is 92.5% pure silver with the balance a mix of germanium and copper. This makes Argentium Sterling Silver harder, brighter and more highly tarnish resistant than traditional sterling silver.

If cared for properly, handcrafted pieces of Sterling Silver jewellery can become heirlooms for generations to come.

Pink Valentine Saturday - February 13

It is another Pink Saturday and it is Valentine's Weekend. Our gracious hostess Beverly from How Sweet the Sound is having some health problems. I wish you a very speedy recovery, Beverly.

Last week I visited every blog listed on the Pink Saturday participant list (ok, I was spamming everyone so you would remember about my giveaway!) and I have to say, there are some really wonderful blogs out there in blogland. You must take some time and visit all our "Pinkin" Sisters.

Beverly asked for a Pink Valentine Saturday. So I have a love story.

My husband

decided that my 22nd birthday would be the day he proposed to me

I worked in a jewellery store and he would pick me up every night after work. I had no idea that he was busy designing a ring with my boss. I thought they were just visiting. A sketch was made, stones were chosen and his plan was made. But sometimes stuff happens. My birthday came but the ring wasn't ready. So my ever resourceful guy hit the antique shop and found this

He knew I would love it because it is old

and it is pink

And the ring? I received it the next day. To see it visit me for Silver Sunday tomorrow.

Time to announce the winner of the Gracie Jewellery Giveaway

Everyone who entered had their name put into my favourite pink bowl

After mixing them up, a name was pulled. And the winner is ......(drumroll please)

Shabby Cottage Collectibles

Congratulations Esther! Please email me so I can send off your new sterling silver rhodolite garnet bracelet.

I've had so much fun with this giveaway, I'm already planning the next one. So stay tuned!
