Pink Saturday - September 25

So I am at work today and it suddenly hits me. Pink Saturday! What am I going to share? Looking through my pictures I found this.

I'd love to be able to say it's the sunrise in Miami. But nope, it's the sunrise in Southern Ontario.

But what I really want to share is this book.

"What Southern Women Know About Faith" by Ronda Rich. My sister gave it to me to read, it is the perfect book for me right now. (Thanks, sis.) I love southern accents. When I hear them, I start talkin' with one. So the voice in my head while reading this sounds like Dixie Carter. More importantly, this is book is really re-enforcing my belief in the power of prayer. I know the book isn't pink, but note that the bookmark tassel is!

Thank you Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for hosting our weekly gathering of the Pink. While you are out visiting today please take a minute to visit Lisa at Suburban Retreat. She was a newbie pinkie a couple weeks ago plus she is sort of a neighbour of mine-she lives across the lake.

Thanks for stopping by. Ya'll come back now, ya hear!

Glenridge Artisan Show

I did the Glenridge Artisan show on Saturday. The weather was perfect. I was in the tent which I didn't mind at all. My new Argentium Sterling Silver line proved to be a hit. Can't wait to get started on more pieces.

This is one of the pendants that sold.

Pink Saturday - September 18

If you visited my Pink Saturday post a couple weeks ago, you know my husband was laid off from his job. The past 2 weeks have been terribly stressful, waiting for paper work so we could register for Employment Insurance, among other things. Then yesterday a co-worker gave me a magazine. In it there is an article on keeping a Gratitude Journal. Each day write down 3 things you are grateful for.

So I dug out my Pink journal

and my pink pen

I always have to be different so my FOUR things I am grateful for today are:

1. My husband and son. My husband who makes the meals while I am busy creating my jewellery, among a host of other things, and my son who vaccums the house twice a week. And for making me laugh. Did I get lucky or what?

2. My sister for being my friend and her encouraging words during this stressful time. It is so good to say my sister is my friend. (Happy Birthday, Sis!)

3. For all the lovely ladies I have met through this blog. I love your weekly visits.

I would like to mention one lady in particular, Gail from Decorating My Tin Shack. Gail sent me a personal email of encouragement that really touched me. Every time I have thought of it the past two weeks, I tear up. I have never met Gail, just visited her blog several times although I haven't always left a comment. So while you do the rounds on this Pink Saturday be sure to stop by and visit Gail.

4. Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for hosting our weekly meetings. And for not picking orange or green as our colour.

Have a great week. Thanks for visiting.

Paraprosdokian Sentences

A friend sent me the following. I love these kind of things. My favourites - #12 and 17. Enjoy!

They say that nonsense messages clog the internet. The trick is sorting out the nonsense from the useless advertising spam from the "news"... from the stress-relieving chuckle that actually has some value.

Paraprosdokian Sentences

A paraprosdokian is a figure of speech in which the latter part of a sentence or phrase is surprising or unexpected in a way that causes the reader or listener to reframe or reinterpret the first part. It is frequently used for humorous or dramatic effect, sometimes producing an anticlimax.

2 Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

3 The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it's still on the list.

4 We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public.

5 Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

6 Evening news is where they begin with 'Good evening', and then proceed to tell you why it isn't.

7 A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.

8 Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.

9 Whenever I fill out an application, in the part that says "If an emergency, notify:" I put "DOCTOR".

10 Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

Pink Saturday - September 11

Where were you September 11, 2001?

I think everyone remembers exactly what they were doing that morning when they heard THE news. I had just shut off my hairdryer when I heard on the radio that a plane had hit the first tower. I quickly turned on CNN just in time to see the second plane coming in. I sat there thinking "What is that pilot thinking?" And then couldn't believe what I saw.

Later on I went outside to sit on my patio. I remember thinking how quiet it was. No traffic noise. No planes in the sky - where I live we see jets starting to descend for landing at the Buffalo Airport. The sun was shining, the sky was a beautiful blue with white fluffy clouds. And it was so quiet. It seemed so surreal.

September 11, 2001 - the day that changed the world.

Canada and the United States share the world's longest continuous border. We could "jump the ditch" without needing a passport. Not anymore. Now we need passports and security passes.

I pray that there is never another "September 11th".

I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony.

Thank you to Beverly from How Sweet the Sound" for hosting Pink Saturdays. This week while visiting the other Pinkers be sure to visit Gail at My Tin Shack.

Thank you for visiting. Have a great week.

The Colour of Purple

One of the fashion colours being shown for Fall is Purple. The colour can be said so many ways - Purple, Plum, Eggplant and my personal favourite, Aubergine. Doesn't matter how you say it, it is a gorgeous colour.

The best gem for this colour is the Amethyst. Amethyst is easily the most popular of the quartz minerals. It is crystalline quartz in shades of purple or lavender, with the darker richer colored varieties considered the most valuable. Brazil is the most prolific source of amethyst in the world today and so the most common source for cut stones on the market.

A shield-cut Amethyst teams up with beautiful round amethyst to hang from a 23 inch sterling silver rectangular link chain accented with more amethysts. While the chain is long enough to slip over your head, it easily opens with a sterling silver lobster clasp. Amethyst beads decorate the back of your neck.

Labour Day Weekend - Pink Saturday

It's Pink Saturday Labour Day Weekend. Thanks Beverly from How Sweet the Sound for hosting our weekly gatherings.

Labour Day or Labor Day is an annual holiday to celebrate the economic and social achievements of workers. Well in my house it has been a stressful week. My husband was laid off, the second time in two years. The company has been sold, and the new owners do not want any of the employees.

I've shown these before, my handmade Prayer Beads made of Pink Swarovski Crystal and Freshwater Pearl with an Argentium Sterling Silver Cross. I fear they will be worn out by the time this is over.

Have a great weekend. Thanks for visiting.
